Performance Improvement
Improving employee performance most often requires a strategic plan addressing multiple causes. Training is not always the answer.
Potential Causes of Poor Performance
Unknown, unclear, or overly high expectations
Insufficient, delayed, or inappropriate feedback
Unknown impact of, or rationale for, performance of a task
Positive consequences for poor performance
Negative consequences for good performance
Competing priorities or direction
Inadequate tools or resources
Insufficient authority to carry out responsibilities
Hiring people with the wrong experience, training, education, interests, or goals
Inadequate or inappropriate motivation, reward, recognition, or compensation
Uncomfortable or hostile environment
Gap in skills and knowledge
How I Can Help Your Organization
I conduct a needs analysis, sorting through all the variables impacting performance, and then make recommendations for a solution to address each cause. A plan for implementation is also suggested.
When one of the causes is a gap in skills and knowledge, training may be recommended. There could be less costly solutions, as well.
As a qualified instructional designer and trainer, I design, develop, and deliver training to meet the needs of adult learners. My training is cost effective, accelerates learning, is highly interactive, and results in application of the skills and knowledge when back on the job.
I can also evaluate the quality and impact of existing training.
